Fake Sophistication

Oh, late night blogging, how I love you. I've just returned from a stint of baby-sitting, and am now buried in a blanket at home, with coffee and cereal writing this. I'm wild, I know. I'm about as wild as this outfit is ground-breaking, but heck, you don't need to be a trend-setter to look (and feel) fancy. Seeing as you saw my casual get up at the beginning of the month, here's a little combination to make me look a bit more sophisticated. Although if I'm honest it's not difficult to do that, because I'm a perpetual comfort dresser.
Being 5ft9" it's a rare occasion to find me in any kind of heel. These shoes are my new favourite thing but I won't lie to you, they're not the easiest to walk in. I'm still learning, so until I master it I'm faking the whole "sophistication" thing.

The clock is saying 01:38 so I think it might be time for me to retreat upstairs to my comfiest pyjamas and a good book. Hitting the 'publish' button right now...

Right now I'm listening to:

Cut It Out

Rummaging through my wardrobe last week meant that I re-discovered this little pinafore. It makes a nice change to throw on a dress, rather than my usual jeans that I'm attached to like a comfort blanket.

Right now I'm sat on the sofa editing this post, with a chocolate egg at my side, and the Formula One on tv. Yep, who knew, I can't get enough of the F1 this year. It's been a nice way to end my Easter break, and has helped distract me from the fact that mock exams are looming.

Also, a question: can I still get away with wearing a darkish lipstick, even though it's Spring? To me, Spring calls for nudes, brights, and peachy-pinks, but this outfit was just screaming a red lip to me. Got any thoughts?

Halo Braids and Evening Face

After watching Hello October's March Favourites I felt super inspired. I couldn't wait for a possible tutorial that everyone in the comments was asking for, so instead I pressed pause on the video and and grabbed some makeup. You guys probably know that my everyday face is a flick of eyeliner and a barely there lipstick, so it's safe to say I switched it up just a little and cracked out Maybelline's Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze. Everything else was the usual- what can I say, I think I probably need to break out of this makeup rut I'm in.

In order of application...

Rimmel Match Perfection in True Ivory
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Light
Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On & On Bronze
Natural Collection Liquid Eyeliner
Maybelline The Falsies
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transluscent
Sleek Luminous Presses Powder in 2
Rimmel Lasting Finish Blush in Santa Rose
Topshop Lipstick in Nevada

As for the hair... this was probably my third attempt at Halo Braids and I think this is as good as it's going to get. This video made it look super easy, which definitely had me fooled. I think that practice is key, here, because mine looking nothing look this. It's a great little tutorial though, especially for shoulder length hair gals like me.

Sweater Weather

Being on Easter break this past week has meant that I've been going a little stir crazy. Here's an every-day, 'I'm bored but feel like I should make an effort' outfit. We all have these, right? (Please say it isn't just me) When it comes to these days, comfort is key. Baggy jumpers and soft jeans? Nothing ground breaking, but if it's comfy, I'm wearing it.

Also, meet the latest edition to my shoe closet. I have no idea if these Nikes are in any way cool, but they're so comfy. (Sensing a theme here?)

I never wrote a Favourites post for March, but there have been a few odd things I've been liking..

Two Songs:

One TV Show:

One Favourite Nail Colour:

So there are a few things I've been loving recently. It's really getting kind of late in the evening though, even for a half term, so I'm off to bed. Night night.

P.S- Let me know what you've been loving these past few weeks!

The New Thing: Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm, Elusive

I don't think I'm going to be saving any money anytime soon! The Boots '3 for 2' offer got me again... Remember my latest Wish List, that left me pining for a Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms? Well, I picked up the shade 'Elusive' a week or so ago and I'm impressed.

'Elusive' is a really wearable pink, and perfect for Spring in my eyes. Revlon seem to have perfected a matte offering that doesn't leave your lips feeling chalky- instead they're oh-so-smooth, no flaking in sight. I'm also in love with it's fresh, minty scent. Definitely a nice change from some of the funky scents my other lip products have.

They're super easy to apply and touch up, and they sit comfy on my lips. I definitely want to go back and scout out the rest of the collection- there's a peachy orange I have my eyes on.
