Winter Picks

Winter Picks

Christmas is fast approaching (I'm warning you now, it's all I'll be talking about until New Year...) and I love a bit of sparkle. I saw Tanya Burr talking about this Topshop sweater in a recent video, and liked it so much that I got to day-dreaming about the result. Here's the result...

Scrap Bookin' #4

Yep, I've been saving up those magazines and have given my scrap book an overhaul. I took these photos and then noticed an underlying theme of preppy, simple pieces, and a bare face.

This past week has been non-stop and I can't see it getting much better for a few weeks, so I'm so, so sorry about irregular posting. The plan is to upload my September Favourites this weekend. I had hoped to have a go at filming a video because I think it would be tonnes easier to do my favourites this way, but the whole filming and editing process is pretty long and I'm worried I wouldn't have time to do a good job on it. So maybe next month?

Thank you all so much for putting up with the infrequent posts, but I hope you all still enjoy seeing what I post. I would rather do this than be churning out short posts with awful content! I'm always interested to see what you all like reading, so let me know if there are things you would like to see on Total Modisch!

Scrap Bookin' #3

You guys might know that I love a bit of scrap-booking, especially sneaking a peek in other peoples' books. Here are some of my most recent additions to my book. I try and categorise pages into different things, whether it's a colour, a trend or how different make-up looks are styled. My favourite pages always change, but right now it's the image above, because I think both images are so darn beautiful. From the hair to the beauty look (quite understated, the way I tend to do my own make up) and the styling. Basically, everything about them.

Shades of Pastel

Shades of Pastel

When creating this outfit I had one thing that I really wanted to put in the post: a cropped turtle neck. I've seen them on a few blogs recently (Isabella at Views of Now has a white one) and wanted to show you how I would wear it. When I found this gorgeous plum crop top I instantly saw the Cecily bag in this amazing mint, and knew I wanted to pair the top with soft pastel colours.  To me, this would be a perfect outfit for a summer in Europe. I love this new take on Espadrilles and I've been seeing them lots in stores recently. I seriously need a job because there are some many things I want! Anyway, let me know what you think of this- would you wear it?

New Bond Street, London

After yesterday's meeting I headed over to New Bond Street to get some photography, Sartorialist style! I love doing this and really want to do it more often. I love each and every one of these outfits for different reasons- I think they all show great style. One of the reasons I like doing these posts is because everyone likes the images for different reasons.

I love the pink and yellow- great combination! Also love all black with small gold details, simple yet effective.

I LOVE how eclectic and, in my eyes, brave this couple are. The matching KENZO is a fantastic statement.

Again, I love the simplicity and layering of this outfit. The little flash of blue is really pretty too.

The first thing that made me want to photograph these friends was the orange gilet. But when I looked closer at when each girl I loved the coordination of sweater and bag (on the left) and the bright colour popping out from a neutral pallet (on the right).

Let me know what stands out to you from these images in the comments! x

What Inspires You?

Over the past year or two I've been keeping a scrap book. It started out simply as something to put in  everything I saw in magazines which I liked, and something to do on a rainy day. However, due to many, many rainy days, it's become something more than that now.

I have slowly built up a catalogue of trends. It works as a reference book for me on which trends are/ have been popular and how people wear these trends. I still have cuttings of things I love, be it an article, some photography or an advertising campaign which has caught my eye.

One of my biggest sources of inspiration are blogs. Favourites include The Sartorialist, We Wore What and Views of Now, but these are only a few! The next biggest thing to inspire me are magazines! Harper's Bazaar is a favourite of mine.

I wondered what inspires you all? Is it TV and Film, Magazines, Blogs, Photography? This post is purely in regards to style and fashion, but I want to know who inspires you, not just in what you wear but in what you stand for. Comment below!

Coachella Plans

Every year I look (and swoon) at the lineup for Coachella. This year is no exception, with some of my favourites performing: Alt-J, Ben Howard, Disclosure, Jake Bugg, Knife Party, Jessie Ware and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers among others. I'm so jealous of anyone that gets the chance to go.

To try and cheer myself up I've promised myself that I will go one day, and I've been musing over what I would wear when there. I've put together three outfits which I thought I might share with you!

Inspired by a favourite of mine- Cara Delevingne. I love both her style and personality, and what she is wearing here is so simple and casual. Perfect for Coachella!

The beautiful Isabella from the blog Views of Now! I absolutely loved this post, and knew I really wanted to try and recreate it. I found these really cool backless boots, which I thought added another twist to the outfit.

I like how casual this is, whilst still staying feminine. I wish I would have found an image of the original skirt, but I found this gorgeous one by Jack Wills instead. The pretty floral detail balances out the masculinity of the over-sized tee and converse.

Summer Wishing

Summer Wishing
After all the snow we've had in Derbyshire this week I cannot wait until Summer! So, just to emphasise how wintery the weather is, I went on Polyvore and got some inspiration!

Love How It Hurts

Ice Age Sugar

I love Disco Pants; I really think I need some! I think they look best put together as a sporty/ casual look with some statement jewellery. I couldn't help but look but include a t-shirt designed for this years Comic Relief, after all £75 million was raised yesterday!

If you're wondering where this posts name came from, it's named after one of favourite songs that I re-discovered today; Love How It Hurts by Scouting For Girls.

Let me know if you like Disco Pants and what you would style them with!
